The Rasco FR Contractor Coverall with CSA Trim incorporates numerous thoughtful design elements that enhance both safety and functionality. At the collar, you’ll find a mandarin-style design with a secure snap closure that provides protection for the neck area while maintaining comfort. This collar style offers better coverage than traditional designs and helps prevent sparks or hot materials from entering the garment from above—a crucial consideration in welding or similar operations.
Storage solutions are integrated throughout the coverall, beginning with a dedicated pen pocket featuring a specialized slot that keeps writing implements secure yet accessible. Dual chest pockets with protective flaps and snap closures offer additional storage for small tools, documents, or personal items, keeping essentials within reach while ensuring they remain safely contained during movement. These storage options eliminate the need to carry separate pouches or repeatedly access tool belts, streamlining workflow in busy industrial settings.
The cuffs feature adjustable snap closures that serve multiple purposes: they help prevent material from entering the sleeves, allow for customization of fit depending on the task at hand, and provide a secure seal when worn with protective gloves. This attention to detail at potential entry points for hazardous materials demonstrates the comprehensive safety approach taken in the coverall’s design. The two-way flame-resistant brass zipper remains concealed behind a protective flap, reducing the risk of the zipper itself becoming a conductor or catching on equipment while working.
Perhaps the most visually distinctive feature is the 2-inch yellow/silver/yellow flame-resistant reflective trim arranged in the CSA-approved pattern. This high-visibility element significantly enhances worker safety in low-light conditions or environments with moving vehicles and equipment. The reflective properties meet Canadian Standards Association requirements for visibility, while maintaining the flame-resistant properties essential to the garment’s primary protective function. This dual-purpose feature exemplifies how the coverall integrates multiple safety considerations into a cohesive design.
The overall construction utilizes an 8.8-ounce fabric blend of 88% cotton and 12% nylon twill, striking an optimal balance between durability and comfort. This specific composition delivers the necessary flame resistance while remaining breathable enough for extended wear across various working conditions. With an arc rating of 9.2 cal/cm², the material provides substantial protection against electrical arc flash hazards—a critical consideration for workers in electrical environments or those working near potential arc flash sources.
